Consumer Demand prompts Frontier Soups to Convert Three Top Sellers to Gluten Free

WAUKEGAN, Ill., June 2010 – In keeping with consumers’ quest for more gluten free foods, Frontier Soups™ has converted three of its top selling dry mixes to gluten free varieties by substituting flavorful corn pasta. The new gluten free mixes are being announced at the NASFT 2010 Summer Fancy Food Show, Booth 4426.

The three soup mixes include Homemade-In-Minutes™ Connecticut Cottage Chicken Soup and Ohio Valley Vegetable and Wisconsin Lakeshore Wild Rice Soup from the Hearty Meal™ line, said Trisha Anderson, founder of Frontier Soups.

“We were very pleased to find high-quality pasta made from corn flour that gives us the great taste and texture of the semolina wheat pasta we had been using,” Anderson said. “It is always our objective to offer easy and healthy meal solutions to consumers, and it has been clear that our customers are looking for more gluten free options for family favorites.”

Frontier Soups’ gluten-free mixes contain no wheat products and are made in a separate area of the production facility, but those who have severe wheat allergies should be aware that products containing gluten are made in the same facility, she said.

With the addition of these three soups and the newly-introduced Hearty Meal Colorado Campfire Chicken Stew, Frontier Soups now has 31 gluten free soup mixes. More information is available at www.FrontierSoups.com or by calling 1-800-300-7687 (SOUP.)

Frontier Soups Introduces New Chicken Stew and Revamps Packaging for Hearty Meal Line

Hearty Meal Colorado Campfire Chicken Stew has all the flavors of homemade chicken pot pie and is gluten free.
New packaging still showcases all natural ingredients but adds peel-off tag for recipes and cooking instructions.

WAUKEGAN, Ill., June 2010 – Frontier Soups’ new Hearty Meal™ Colorado Campfire Chicken Stew is like homemade chicken pot pie in a bowl, and as its name implies, it can either be enjoyed around the dining table or the campfire. The stew is being introduced, along with new packaging for the company’s Hearty Meal line, at the NASFT 2010 Summer Fancy Food Show, Booth 4426.

Scented with sage and thyme and filled with carrots, peas, potatoes and white beans, Colorado Campfire Chicken Stew can be prepared gluten free and is as thick and rich as chicken pot pie, according to Trisha Anderson, founder of Frontier Soups™. In addition to a recipe for stovetop preparation with fresh chicken breast, it also has a variation for camping enthusiasts using canned chicken, Anderson said.

The new packaging, which continues to feature cello bags that clearly display the layered all natural ingredients and seasonings, includes a peel-off tag with recipes and cooking instructions on the back label instead of a free-hanging tag. It also includes a brick red header label for a bold branding block on the shelf and a more squared bottom for neater stock-keeping, she said. Each soup has a front label distinctly colored to coordinate with its flavor profile and a prominent call-out indicating whether it is one of Frontier Soups’ now 31 gluten free mixes.

“Frontier Soups appeals to both aspiring and accomplished home cooks because we offer a shortcut to homemade, usually with fewer than five ingredients,” Anderson said. “With all the seasonings and recipes on the packages, these soups offer healthy meal solutions for consumers’ busy lives. For instance, the Colorado Campfire Chicken Stew can be served with biscuits or home cooks can use it to make a chicken and dumpling recipe that is on the label.” All Frontier Soups mixes are all natural with no added salt, preservatives or MSG.

The Hearty Meal line of soups, stews, chili and chowders is available in packages of from 7- to 18-ounces with a suggested retail price of $6 to $7. The suggested retail price of the new Colorado Campfire Chicken Stew is $7.00.

Frontier Soups ‘Family Sizes’ its Popular International Wedding Soup and Beef Goulash

WAUKEGAN, Ill., June 2010 – Two popular selections from Frontier Soups’ International Collection™ line are being “family-sized” and the new larger sizes will be included in the company’s two original lines of soups, stews, chili and chowder.

Frontier Soups™ is introducing Little Italy Wedding Soup in its Hearty Meal™ line and Wyoming Fireside Beef Goulash in its Homemade-In-Minutes™ line at the 2010 NASFT Summer Fancy Food Show, Booth 4426, said Trisha Anderson, Frontier Soups’ founder. The two larger-portion soups are based on the International Collection’s Italian Wedding Soup and Hungarian Goulash and both of those will remain in the International Collection line, Anderson said.

The Little Italy Wedding Soup will serve a family of six or more while the Wyoming Fireside Beef Goulash, which is in the quicker-cooking Homemade-In-Minutes line, will serve a family of four in less than an hour. The International Collection soups serve two to three diners.

The Wedding Soup is filled with tiny pastini and mini-meatballs made meltingly tender with whole grain bread crumbs. Fresh additions of escarole and Parmesan cheese add nutrition and great taste. The Goulash is hearty with ground beef, which allows the dish to get to the table quicker than using cubed beef. Spicy paprika, onion, peppers and tomatoes make this a memorable meal that no one will believe wasn’t simmered for hours, Anderson said.

“Our customers keep telling us they want nutritious, no hassle meals for their families that they can get on the table quickly and without a lot of fuss,” she said. “With the popularity of these two soups, it just made sense to size them for family dining.”

Frontier Soups Expands Party Starter Mix Line with Three New Dip Mix Flavors

Each new mix can be made with four ingredients or fewer and offers home cooks several preparation options for meals or entertaining. Five dips have been renamed to highlight their adaptability as easy meal makers.

WAUKEGAN, Ill, May 6, 2010 – Frontier Soups™ is adding three new flavors to its line of Party Starter Mix™ dips and renaming five dips to let consumers know their versatility as easy meal makers.

Frontier Soups Party Starter Dip MixesThe new Party Starter Mix dips are being introduced for the NASFT 2010 Summer Fancy Food Show, Booth 4426. Each may be served hot or cold and features an inventive variation recipe giving home cooks the ability to create several options from one packet of dried seasoning ingredients, according to Trisha Anderson, Frontier Soups’ founder. The mixes are all natural with no added salt, preservatives or MSG and will be available June 1. A sturdy metal spinner display rack for the dips is available for $25.

The new dips include:

Roasted Garlic Spinach Dip, a sophisticated version of the classic dip, updated with roasted garlic, tarragon and dry mustard for a spicy nip. Cottage cheese, substituted for sour cream, and a package of frozen chopped spinach make this a more figure friendly version of the classic while an optional variation without the spinach makes for quicker preparation and a creamier dip.

Horseradish Shrimp Dip, whose silky base of mayonnaise, sour cream and cream cheese is introduced to a bit of fiery horseradish and mellowed with roasted red peppers and black olives. For a heartier version, shredded deli-sliced corned beef can be substituted for the shrimp.

Curried Cheddar Chutney Dip with piquant flavors that are rounded out by chutney and shredded cheddar. For even more flavor, crumble in four slices of crispy bacon. Mixing sliced chicken breast with ¼ cup of the dip makes and easy, and flavorful, Panini.

The Party Starter Mix line also includes a meaty Taco Dip Mix. The renamed mixes are Chipotle Fajita and Dip Mix, Lemony Dill Fish Bake and Dip Mix, Green Onion Chicken Bake and Dip Mix, Autumn Pumpkin Soup and Nut Spice Mix, and Pesto Tomato Pasta Seasoning and Dip Mix. The .5-ounce to .75-ounce mixes come in clear cello packets to showcase the beauty of the all natural ingredients and have a suggested retail price of $3.50.

“Each of our simple recipes and inventive variations can be made with four ingredients or fewer, which saves time at the grocery store and in the kitchen,” Anderson said. “Hot and cold options and inventive variations in one convenient package give today’s busy home cooks a selection of easy, flavorful options right at their fingertips.”

Frontier Soups on Twitter

AlexHello, I’m Alex and am now tweeting for Frontier Soups. As a kid I was a really picky eater, so now that I’m in college and on my own I am trying out new foods but always try to keep it healthy.

I’ve been eating homemade soup since I first wandered into the kitchen to see what mom was cooking. My mom worked as an HR consultant for Frontier Soups and would bring home soup mixes for us to try. They were delicious! You add just enough fresh ingredients so they taste truly homemade. You could even say I learned to cook with Frontier Soups mixes!

When I went off to college, I took my Frontier Soups favorites with me. I found out that food can cure homesickness! For Thanksgiving, I made the Illinois Prairie Corn Chowder for my roommates and myself. When I traveled to Spain for my year of foreign studies, I brought Frontier Soups mixes to my host family. Now they are my go-to meal when I cook for myself and to serve to friends in the working world.

I have personally cooked 28 of the 37 varieties of Frontier Soups mixes so far. If I haven’t cooked a soup you have a question about, I will find the answer and cook it up myself to be sure. I’m happy to talk to you about soup cooking questions. Whether you have questions when you’re at the grocery store or in the kitchen, I can help. Tweet with me @ http://twitter.com/FrontierSoups.

Have-A-Heart Month

At Frontier Soups February is all about matters of the heart, and so we’ve designated it Have-A-Heart Month. To celebrate, we’re pledging $500 to the American Heart Association for its great work in promoting healthy eating as a first step in taking care of ourselves.

We also want to give a heart-felt thanks to all of our customers by including with every order a copy of our white paper “The Lean of the Bean and the Ease of Peas,” which explains the link between eating beans and preventing heart disease and lots of other health issues.

Of course, we can’t forget Valentine’s Day. Nothing makes a person feel more special than when their loved one takes the time to prepare a special meal for them, and nothing is more comforting and heart-warming than a nice hot bowl of soup. No matter who your special one is, mother/daughter, sister/brother, husband/wife or a friend, they will love our Louisiana Red Bean Gumbo Soup, which is on special this month for just $4.95, a 30 percent savings.  The gumbo also makes a great meal to feed a crowd for Mardi Gras!

Recipe Correction for Crock Pot Cooking Booklet

We continually test our recipes and we occasionally receive helpful consumer suggestions. Please make a note that in our 2008 publication “Dinner in 8 …Hours” slow cooker booklet there are two misprints in directions:

  1. Dakota Beef Barely Bean crock pot recipe should be cooked on LOW, not HIGH in your slow cooker. See the full correct Dakota Territory Beef Barley Bean Stew crock pot recipe.
  2. Michigan Ski Country Chili crock pot recipe does not give correct directions for the beans. The red kidney bean MUST boil before being placed into the crockpot. See the full correct Michigan Ski Country Chili crock pot recipe.
